Main break

The Fairfield Water Department responded to a main break Wednesday afternoon on West Jefferson Avenue between Third and Fourth streets. Water filled the street and created a virtual ice rink on West Jefferson. Water superintendent Carl Chandler said the crew was on scene for four to five hours while it dug a hole in the street to get down to the leaky main.
