PACKWOOD — The young Pekin girls’ basketball team struggled to find its groove in a 43-23 loss to Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday in Packwood.
The Panthers, who were led by freshman Gwynne Wright’s 12 points, started slow out of the gates and quickly found themselves in an 8-0 hole.
Pekin scored its first bucket of the night with two minutes to go in the first quarter and trailed 11-4 headed into the second period. ...
